In the food industry, lactic acid appears as clear, colorless solution with a sour taste. Generally it is used as one preservative and pH adjuster to improve the shelf life and safety of food products, including baked goods, meat products, dairy products, fermented vegetables, etc.
In bakeries, food grade lactic acid plays an important role in adjusting PH, improving flavor and texture.
In meat processing, food grade lactic acid can inhibit the growth of harmful bacterials to ensure the safey and extend the shelf life of final products.
